It includes three I/O modules and a utility module for 16 balanced analog line-level outputs via XLR 3-pin jacks, eight channels of AES3 digital in and out via a transformer-coupled DB25 connector, a 1/4″ stereo headphone output, and more. A 4.9′ DB25 to XLR breakout cable is supplied for simplified hookup of AES-capable equipment. With wide dynamic range, adjustable levels and low distortion and noise, it delivers high-quality audio performance that is easily customized using the onboard display and comprehensive controls.

Prism Sound ADA-8XR Frame Audio Interface Chassis (No I/O Modules)

The Prism Sound ADA-8XR Frame is a rack-mountable 2 RU audio interface chassis designed to deliver versatile clocking and configurability for producers, musicians, and audio engineers in home, project, and commercial studios. Its modular design yields flexible I/O arrangements thanks to four I/O module slots—two analog and two digital. A variety of modules (available separately) can be installed for access to multichannel analog/digital inputs and outputs as well as Pro Tools or FireWire workstation connectivity.

The ADA-8XR Frame supports resolutions up to 24-bit/192 kHz, and can clock internally or to external AES3, AES11, word clock, or Pro Tools Loop Sync. The built-in Utility Module provides stereo analog RCA and digital BNC audio outputs, BNC word clock and XLR AES11 sync I/O, and a DB9 serial communications port. Additionally, the front panel has a 1/4″ stereo headphone output along with assignable 8-channel bargraph meters. An onboard display and comprehensive controls enable efficient adjustment of parameters, which can be quickly stored and recalled via factory and user presets. The ADA-8XR Frame comes with no I/O modules, ready for custom configurations.

Prism Sound 8C-DA 8-Channel D/A Module for ADA-8XR Interface

The Prism Sound 8C-DA is an 8-channel D/A module offering uncompromising digital-to-analog conversion for producers, musicians, and audio engineers using a Prism Sound Dream ADA-8XR audio interface in a variety of studio environments. Exhibiting low noise, minimal distortion, and high dynamic range, it features 24-bit/192 kHz D/A converters, which feed analog line level to eight balanced XLR 3-pin male outputs.

For precise calibration and gain optimization, each channel offers output level adjustments in 0.5 dBu increments and output trim tweaks in 0.05 dBu steps. The 8C-DA easily installs into an analog I/O slot of a Dream ADA-8XR (available separately).

  • Adds eight analog line-level outputs to your Prism Sound Dream ADA-8XR audio interface
  • Supports resolutions up to 24-bit/192 kHz
  • Output level (0.5 dBu increments) and trim (0.05 dBu increments) are adjustable via the host ADA-8XR’s menu system
  • Eight balanced XLR 3-pin male input jacks

Prism Sound 8C-AES 8-Channel AES I/O Module for ADA-8XR Interface

The Prism Sound 8C-AES is an 8-channel AES I/O module offering flexible digital input and output configurations for producers, musicians, and audio engineers using a Prism Sound Dream ADA-8XR audio interface in a variety of studio environments. It supports resolutions up to 24-bit / 192 kHz, AES3 and S/PDIF channel status, and one- and two-wire modes. One transformer-coupled DB25 connector accommodates eight channels in and out and can be wired to XLR-equipped gear via the supplied 4.9′ DB25 to XLR breakout cable.

The input and output sections are independent, which allows them to operate at different sample rates, sync to different clock sources, and utilize different impedances. The 8C-AES easily installs into the upper or lower digital I/O slot of a Dream ADA-8XR (available separately).

  • Eight channels of digital audio I/O on four AES3 carriers in each direction
  • Input and output sections are independent and may be assigned to different paths with different sample rates, sync sources, and more
  • Accommodates sample rates up to 192 kHz in Split96 (two-wire) or high-speed (one-wire) mode, and can output consumer (S/PDIF) or professional (AES3) channel status
  • Inputs and outputs can be jumpered to comply with AES3 or S/PDIF carrier voltage levels and impedances
  • Supplied breakout cable features a DB25 male connector on one end and eight XLR connectors (four female and four male) on the other
  • Easily installs in an ADA-8XR upper slot (DIO1) if no workstation I/O card is fitted, or in the lower slot (DIO2) if a workstation card is fitted
