Rob Papen XY-Transfer Virtual Filter Bank Software for Sound Design and Production (Download)

Available for download, Rob Papen‘s XY-Transfer is a virtual effect, one offering 36 different filters for use in creative sound design and music production. Its filters can be implemented on up to three individual blocks, each of which houses its own XY panel. This allows you to manipulate and modulate complicated effects rather easily, all in real time.

Set up a comb filter in one block, an analog-style high-pass in another, and a formant filter in the third. Manipulate their parameters through multiple controls, as well as the X/Y pad. Then, route them all in any order you choose, alongside a freestanding stereo delay module to further mangle the sound. The result is as esoteric and individual as you want it to be.

This software is compatible with Mac and Windows platforms. It will operate in AU, VST, and AAX formats. Over 200 presets are included with the plug-in.

Preset Section

Some filters include:
  • Low Pass Filter (LP)
  • High Pass Filter (HP)
  • Band Pass Filter (BP)
  • Notch Filter
  • Vowel Filter
  • Formant 1
  • Formant 2
  • Low Shelf

  • Peak Shelf

Comb Filtering

A comb filter is a very short delay that either enhances or reduces a frequency balance depending on the comb filter frequency. In the XY section, you can directly modulate the Comb Filter Frequency, Feed, and Dampening. The Comb Filter works in positive or negative modes depending on the Comb Type selected.

Shaper Effect

With this effect, you can shape the input using several different types of modulation or another audio changing effect. The available effects are: Ring Modulation, Frequency Modulation, Phase Modulation, Amplitude Modulation and a Lo-Fi effect.

Room Effect

The Room effect is a room simulator, adding depth to the sound. It’s taken from the RP-VERB 2 algorithm. When used in combination with the XY pad, you can sculpt some very creative effect sounds. A special feature is the Mod control that modulates the room so that it starts to sound very wild and untamed.

Gater Effect

  • The Gater effect changes the volume of the left and right signals using a 16-step sequencer to alter the volume of the sound. Basically, it is a sequencer-controlled audio gate.

Stereo Delay

  • This tape-based delay can be placed anywhere in the signal path.

  • The Volume Follower can be used as a modulation source and also to trigger things.

Modulation Matrix

  • A 4-slot modulation matrix ensures all the parameters of XY-Transfer can be altered by a wide range of modulation sources.

Rob Papen Punch 2 – Virtual Drum Instrument (Upgrade from Version 1, Download)

Available for download, Punch 2 from Rob Papen is a virtual instrument providing both sampled and synthesized drums. Over 1700 samples are included for your kick, snare, tom, hi-hat, and clap sounds. Use synthesis and the built-in samples to construct your drum-kit, or load your own custom samples.

The sounds can then be crafted using the comprehensive feature set, including an FX page with choruses, delays, distortions, and filters aplenty. Each sound can be sent to up to four FX at once via the FX window.

This new version of Punch gives you an overhauled main screen, which lets you add drum kits or samples with ease. An Audition pad plays examples of what you’re going to hear inside any given preset pack, so you can easily survey a preset before you use it.

The main screen also lets you to edit selected pads with essential parameters, such as tuning, velocity, decay, and others. You’ll also find important master-section parameters for quick, easy adjustments to the whole kit.

A new Master screen gives you faders for each drum pad, a four-band EQ, and other controls. A Bank Manager page lets you sort through all your presets easily. Another exciting feature is the ability to slice your own drum loops and load them in your pads to create tweakable sequences. With the ability to slice drum loops comes the ability to load REX files as well.

Punch 2 has eight built-in sequencers, allowing you to implement multiple patterns. These grooves can be triggered in a live environment to build a song, but are also useful for improvising and jamming.  This software is available for Mac and Windows operating systems, and will operate in VST, AU, and AAX formats.

Note:  This pricing is only available for users of 1 Rob Papen product who wish to upgrade. You must have a previously purchased and licensed any Rob Papen product to qualify for this pricing.

Rob Papen RP-VERB 2 – Reverb Plug-In (Download)

The Rob Papen RP-VERB 2 plug-in produces dense and warm reverb sounds using ten reverb algorithms including Hall Clean, Hall Cave, Hall Warm, Room Cold, Room Edged, Room Storm, Vintage Type 1, Vintage Type 2, Space Orbit 1, and Space Orbit 2. It features a Reverser section, which allows you to reverse the reverb sound, sync it to the tempo of your host DAW, and create unique ambiences for vocals, loops, percussions, guitars, and more.

The RP-VERB 2’s Mod Matrix enables you to route three controllers such as Envelope Follower, Envelope, LFO, Offset, or MIDI, to three possible parameter destinations. This set up allows you to produce effects ranging from subtle to bold or even use the Envelope Follower module to easily recreate the Phil Collins gated-reverb effect.

Rob Papen Blade Virtual Synth Software for Composers, Producers, and Sound Designers (Download)

Designed for electronic musicians, producers, and sound designers, Rob Papen’s Blade is a downloadable soft-synth designed around a feature Mr. Papen has dubbed the Harmolator. The Harmolator is your oscillator section foregoing classic waveforms like saw and square-waves for a more ground-up approach based around nine variable controls and several global setting options. The nine controls each impart their own characteristic on the sound and can be set to a static level with your mouse. Prominently featured in the soft-synth is an X/Y pad, which can control all the parameters in any way you see fit. Indeed, you’ll find nearly every Harmolator control listed twice—once along the vertical axis and again along the horizontal axis so you can fully manipulate how the X/Y pad interacts with your given set of parameters.

The X/Y pad can also be recorded so you can apply modulation to every note that you play. Once recorded, X/Y-pad movements can be synced to tempo, polarized in both directions, looped, sped up, and otherwise manipulated, allowing interesting possibilities in the creation and in the sound design of timbres, parts, and whole songs. You can assign X/Y pad controls to your MIDI controller.

In addition to the Harmolator section, Blade gives you a sub-oscillator, a multimode filter, a distortion module, a modulation matrix, an LFO, an envelope section and more. Blade provides a plethora of presets which you can access using a search function or by using a temporary browser that automatically lists your last ten accessed presets. You can also save your own presets.

Blade is compatible with Mac and Windows systems, and operates in AU, VST, and AAX formats.

Rob Papen RP-Reverse – Reverse Effect Software for Pro Audio Applications (Download)

Available for download, Rob Papen‘s RP-Reverse is an effects processor for use in pro audio mixing and sound design. It allows you to reverse incoming audio for creative purposes. Reversed audio can then be tempo-synced automatically to fit within your track, simplifying a production technique that often comprises a multistep process in your DAW.

The GUI shows you a visual representation of both the incoming audio signal and the resulting reversed effect. The interface gives you control over many parameters, including a handy offset knob that allows you to position the reversed sound to fit better with your song’s groove. Global controls are also provided for adding distortion, changing panning, and tweaking filters. You can modulate these parameters with LFO controls as well.

This plug-in is compatible with Mac and Windows computers. It can operate in AU, VST, and AAX formats.
