The APC Punk Console Synthesizer from Tek’IT Audio is a virtual re-creation of a popular DIY circuit that creates lo-fi sounds on a Windows-compatible computer. It can be used for applications such as recording, broadcast TV editing, DJ setups, post production, and more. It features a stepped tone generator, published in 1980 by Forrest M. Mims III, consisting of a frequency oscillator that drives a monostable circuit which emits square output pulses. The software is a modification of the original circuit, and has zero-delay-feedback, resonant high pass and low pass filters, an LFO, gate controller and a hold function.
With the APC Punk Console you can use the key tracking mod to play different tones using your MIDI keyboard or sequencer, or change the tone by +/- 1 octave with the tone push buttons. All parameters can be assigned to MIDI controllers. The virtual instrument plug-in works with a VST 2 compatible host.
